As far as your MOJO, I think if you create from the heart you can't go wrong :) Do what makes you happy and enjoy what you do :) Can NEVER go wrong with that.Mona Pendletonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11680269059107033765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3915920938292402065.post-63290230579367927132011-04-15T12:00:30.569+10:002011-04-15T12:00:30.569+10:00First of all, LOVE your creative card!!! Seriousl...First of all, LOVE your creative card!!! Seriously out of the box thinking, which I love! As for the mojo thing (or lack thereof), my advice is just to do what YOU love. Challenges can be fun if you're looking for, well, a challenge, but they can be stressful and inhibit your creativity if you're worried about making the greatest card ever, or comparing your work to what others are creating. I read a book once called "Do what you love and the money will follow". Well I say "Do what you love and the creativity will follow", when it comes to this craft we love so much. Make some cards "just for fun", or just to experiment with a new technique, whatever it is that will make YOU happy :)Diane Jaquayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15359539356009968318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3915920938292402065.post-51009836036888984042011-04-15T10:13:33.316+10:002011-04-15T10:13:33.316+10:00Did you hear that? Next time you pull a stunt like that, it is only right that you offer up a warning so I can put my helmet on before reading. Girlfriend, you are DAMN talented! You have such an artsy style that I admire and adore! I still remember a card you made for a a waltzing Mouse challenge that was
G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S! That being said, I can TOTALLY relate to what you are feeling. I actually felt panic stricken at one point as I struggled night after night to pull something.... ANYTHING .....together that seemed even halfaway decent. It's not fun. Glad you have a live in fan club to rescue your self-rejected works of art. This card with playing cards is so flippin' cool! I am going to pour myself a glass of wine and pretend to clink my glass to yours, crafty chick! You may not find your work valuable, but they do and we do! Plus I find creating helps me lose stress and DOES help me stay sane - so even if I don't like my creation, at least the process helped me in some way, lol. And why would you scrap this card? To me, it is perfect for a teen - which is why your daughter loved it!Lorrainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11509350827364250327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3915920938292402065.post-79015136270485849952011-04-15T03:13:51.687+10:002011-04-15T03:13:51.687+10:00What a beautiful card, your work is simply amazing...What a beautiful card, your work is simply amazing!! :)Ginnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03595530173151668704noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3915920938292402065.post-69312467566490101962011-04-14T23:48:38.070+10:002011-04-14T23:48:38.070+10:00Oh Jen, I was so sad to read about you questioning...Oh Jen, I was so sad to read about you questioning your ability. Some days the world doesn't seem to flow in our direction, does it?
Rest assured that as long as you enjoy the process (journey) the end result doesn't matter any where NEAR as much as we think.
And your daughter's clever BD card proves it. Is this not the most creative thing?! Pure love, with a touch of sass!
I say stop being so hard on yourself and just have fun. You don't have to share it with us, but DON'T throw them away...bad karma methinks to toss something that could potentially bring a smile to another's face.
You are a doll. You are kind, thoughtful, clearly intelligent, and have an utterly astonishing creative spirit.
Let it shine.Danahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16538075264488169686noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3915920938292402065.post-25402670124565247362011-04-14T22:19:17.174+10:002011-04-14T22:19:17.174+10:00It's so fun to see a card that has a little su...It's so fun to see a card that has a little surprise!! Using the playing cards for the '16' year old birthday girl really is so clever!! The shaped card is awesome too. I rarely make anything with a different shape, so I'll have to give this a try.
Your kids sound so supportive and sweet - I think that their actions speak louder than words!! Have a great day! Sometimes I think I should just sell all my stuff as I spend so much time and money trying to come up with the next most creative card ever! I agree with your taking a tiny break from challenges. My guess is in a day or two you will be right back at it as I think it is in our blood. Your kids sound wonderful and so supportive. Your daughters birthday card is great, and I really mean it. Those playing cards adding up to 16 was very clever and they went really well with the other elements on your card. Don't give up.
