A Mix And Match Fabregé Cupcake Safari.

TSTR Mix and Match Inspiration Photo

Nothing like a good cupcake if you ask me.  I especially created this cutie-pie cupcake for The Shabby Tea Room's Mix and Match Challenge.  The challenge is to use a minimum of three different pattern papers, either manufactured or handmade in a mix and match paper project.  I must say that as much as I adore a good cuppie, I too adore (probably too) much of the delectable designer papers that are about making this a great challenge for me.  Yum. Seeing that I am also having such fun making baby cards with a wee difference of late, I thought, why not throw another one into the mix.

The rather, um...er, lumpy cupcake shape came about from me taking slight liberties with the Prima Marketing DP that I used for the frosting. For some strange reason I wanted more of that particular paper to show.  So, I just extended it (probably a little too much) beyond the original Papertrey Ink Shape Up Series Cupcake die giving it it's more ovoid than cuppie end shape.  Oopsy!

The other fun bit of the card making was the texturizing of the cupcake wrapper.  I used my recent crush of corrugated cardboard (again!) and die cut it from the wrapper die base which has some nifty additional perforations on it already.  This neat little coupling is even cooler when you peel back the top thinner layer of the cardboard after it's cut to reveal its funky highly textured underbelly which is definitely too cool for school especially when given a few licks of acrylic paint.  Again, yum.   The other pattern papers used are perhaps, less obviously, on the sweet spotty elephant's ear (yep, that is a medium die cut heart upended..crazy , huh?) and some Basic Grey Basics Manilla DP backing PTI's Sweet Baby elephant.

I am rather fond of this quirky card.  Not because it is so well made, because it's not nor do I think I have demonstrated skills particularly extroidinaire because I haven't, but because it is just so charmingly homespun.  Yes, that's it...I think it's rather folksy-fab!

But really though, thank you ever so much for allowing me to share my musings with you.  It's always a pleasure when you come for a visit.  Have an awesome day!

Love this cupcake card. This is the perfect example of a card I can admire (and want to eat) but would have no idea where to start if I had to make one. I love love love patterned paper. Apparently, only to buy, because I am always stumped when it comes to using it, and seem to just collect. But this card is just delicious.

Mixy matchy heaven! Lurve the wrapper and the bobble ribbon and the slightly stretched shape just adds to the charm. One of these days I might actually take the plunge and break out the corrugated cardboard!

Fabrege cupcake--I love it, Jen! Wouldn't it have been cool if Fabrege had made jewelled cupcakes along with his eggs? Well, this is the next best thing! I love the mix of papers, the corregated cardboard, and that flower up top! What a pretty and happy card!

OH My GOODNESS, Jen! This is such an adorable idea for a baby card! I love all the patterns and colors, and that little elephant with heart ear is too cute. But I agree, that cardboard wrapper, all shabbied up, looks a-ma-zing!
