Autumn Down Under Style.

Even though I have lived in Australia for the better part of 22 years, I still get homesick.  In Australia we are 27 days into Autumn now (but who's counting?) and I couldn't be happier.  I find the summers here to be oppressively hot and humid most days (and nights) and the older and more crotchety I become the more I seem to be even more blessed with an abundance of humidity.  Somebody please remind me what a good hair day is?   Oddly enough though, in some places, the leaves do change color and the temperature does drop some.  So, with the making of this card, I momentarily transported myself to the wonderful New York Autumns that I so fondly recall.  The crunchy leaves, the crispness in the air,  the piles of raked leaves and the beautiful autumnal array of colors that abound.  Just lovely.  This card is a tribute to those very days.  Even with the soon to be defoliated trees few and far in between here, my eyes and senses are trained upon them for their rare showing during this super short season.  I can't wait.

For the most part, this card was put together from various doodads from Papertrey Ink.  I love their Autumn Acorns set for obvious reasons as just described, but it is also a cherished set for the font used for the sentiments.  Gosh, it's a goodie.  The lattice rectangle is from Spellbinders and is a die set of the same name.  The mustard color background stamp is a nifty Cover-A-Card from Impression Obsession called Round Floral. Love their big squares of red rubber fabulousness. It may be worth mentioning that the splotchy acorn bottoms were made deliberately so by choosing my most splotchy dye ink and tissueing some off only ever so slightly.  I had hoped to get the unevenness to resemble texture.  Well, that's my story and I am sticking to it. *wink*  As for the rest, feel free to let me know if you want to know more.  It would be my pleasure.

...And that's that card done.  Thank you for stopping by.  I appreciate your visits so.  To colorful and crunchy leaves!

This is such a pretty card Jen, love the great story to go with it too. I love the acorn set, wish I had it and bet I do by the next time Autumn comes round here in CA (We don't get a true Autumn here either and wish we did!)

It is beautiful! I love the texture you achieved on those acorns. We are trying to get some Spring weather. We had some sun today, and tomorrow the rain returns.

Such a beautiful card. I especially love those leaves--somehow you've got color variants and texture on them.

You are awesome - I don't know what I love more ... your blurbs that make me laugh out loud or your gorgeous creations ... they are both fab! And I always feel so special when you leave a comment on my blog. Thanks, girl! :) But seriously, I love this creation of yours ... and aren't those cover a card rubber stamps to die for? I only have one that I scored in a store in San Francisco on sale but LOVE it! Either way the card is covered!

Jen this is a beauty ! Fall is my favoriate time of year! I'm sad for you that you miss your NewYork Autumn. As your card says I sure you are blessed in many other ways. Love the acorns on your card! Enjoy your weather! ( and good hair days)

We're finally looking forward to spring here (even though the weather reports predict snow this week...ugh!) But as much as I like the colours and sounds of spring, I'm always drawn to the yellows, oranges, browns and reds of autumn. Your card really has all of those elements that I love. The acorn texture is very effective ... I'd never think of using tissue paper to create those splotches!!

This is beautiful Jen. I forget that it is fall in Australia now. How hard was that to get used to? :)

So pretty Jen! You really captured the beauty of fall. Spring is trying to emerge here, but we don't really get spring, it will just one day be summer. I can't wait as I like to be hot as opposed to cold ;) Lovely card, as usual!

Jen, this is gorgeous! You have captured the beautiful autumn colors. We are in the midst of spring here with increasing yellow dust and the highest recorded pollen count.

Love this card! Thanks for sharing, though I'm not really in the mood for fall . We're just getting rid of our winter snow up here in Canada!
